The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has successfully sued Next-Gen, Inc. for promoting fake sweepstakes and “game of skill” contests that promised cash prizes. Participants paid a fee to enter the contests but never received their prizes.

In settlement of the court case, Next-Gen Inc. forfeited $30 million in cash and assets to be used to compensate the victims of these scams. Victims around the world who lost money to Next-Gen and its related companies have been identified by the FTC and will receive a letter and/or email explaining how to claim their payment via PayPal. The ACCC is assisting the FTC to ensure that eligible Australian consumers receive their refunds.

Please only act on the instructions in the official letter if you personally lost money to the Next-Gen scam and have an FTC claim number. If you have fallen victim to a different scam and receive an offer for compensation, please ignore it. It may be an attempt to scam more money from you.

Don’t click on links in text messages or emails to claim refunds or prizes. Go to the FTC website and click ‘Get My Payment’ and enter the information from the letter you received.
